PREMIERE: Still Bones Stream New Album “Dopeful”
Taking nods from 90s indie rock, John Gamble, songwriter, guitarist, bassist and keyboardist, sounds like he’s having a great time, and makes you forget that his lyrics describe someone who is heartbroken. After the opening track, “Treeling”, an instrumental that starts with quiet melodic guitar and erupts into a chorus of oos and ahhs, is the title track – a slacker rock anthem with self deprecating lyrics (“I’m too filled with regret/I’m just going to smoke weed til’ I’m dumb”) and hooky choruses. The outro also hearkens to something that could have been on Girls’ debut LP, Album.
