Melanie Alanna Glenn Brings Honesty and Vulnerability with Debut Album “Solo Dreamer”

Melanie Alanna Glenn is a singer-songwriter with a soft and soothing indie-folk sound. She widens eyes with raw, soulful moments through a combination of originals and occasional covers. For the last seven years, Melanie could be found on stage touring nationally with a 7-piece band, Upstate. In recent years she has been exploring the solo journey while apart from her bandmates during the pandemic. Without a schedule packed with touring, Melanie has been creating more solo material that gently weave truth with fiction.
LISTEN TO “Dreamer” from Glenn’s upcoming album “Solo Dreamer”
“Dreamer is a song of inspiration, even though it stems from a place of hardship. It is an ode to those in Melanie’s life that lift her spirit by staying optimistic and positive through the tumultuous path life can create.
Melanie Alanna Glenn’s eponymous debut album (available April 15th) is a journey of emotion and honesty woven into metaphors, songs, stories, and poetry. The album was recorded in a bathroom in North Adams with artist Ryan Walters, and mixed by musician Tom Hamilton of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead. This album harnesses an indie feel that is raw and simplistic with vocals and guitar, and sparse harmonies that allow room for those to harmonize with her as they get to know the album more deeply. The simplicity of the album creates a setting of deep honesty and vulnerability, which are two of Melanie’s core values in life even when it is a hard and uncomfortable path. This album doesn’t steer away from sorrow, but still holds space for hope and inspiration. Enjoy the journey!
“WITH A WARM SOUL-TINGED FOLK CORE, STRONG POP SENSIBILITIES, AND A TASTE FOR GORGEOUS HARMONY, UPSTATE ARE ALL TOO EASY TO FALL IN LOVE WITH. BLENDING FOLK, R&B, GOSPEL, ROCK, AND JAZZ INFLUENCES INTO AN ALLURING BUT OFTEN HARD-TO-CATEGORIZE SONIC IDENTITY, THE BAND HAS GARNERED RESPECTABLE COMPARISONS TO EARLY LAKE STREET DIVE AND PHOX – ACTS WHO, LIKE UPSTATE, BROKE GENRE MOLDS WITHOUT MISSING A BEAT (LITERALLY).”
